About Us

Who We Are

3/8 OIF & OEF Veterans Foundation is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization that provides financial and lifetime support and assistance to 3rd Battalion 8th Marines Veterans, Post-9/11 Veterans, and their families. Many 3/8 and Post-9/11 veterans still suffer from physical, mental, and emotional wounds such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). We want to ensure they have the resources they need to recover from their injuries and transition back to civilian life.

During Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, 3/8 served in Fallujah, 2005; Ramadi, 2006; 22nd MEU, 2007-2008; Afghanistan, 2008-2009;  26th MEU and Afghanistan, 2010-201, and Afghanistan, 2012. During these deployments, 3/8 suffered 37 Killed-in-Action (KIA) and over 300 wounded.

Our team is made up of volunteer Marine Veterans from 3rd Battalion 8th Marines (3/8) who served during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), and our mission is very personal to each team member.

Our Mission

We offer a variety of services, which are tailored to the individual need of each veteran. Programs we offer:

  • Emergency Financial Assistance Program – Veterans can apply for financial assistance for emergency expenses or bill assistance due to financial hardship. These can range from mortgage, rent, or utility bill payments to funeral assistance, prepaid gas or grocery cards, and many other expenses.

  • Unit Reunions Sponsorship Program – Veterans can apply to have sponsored unit reunions. Reunions assist veterans with combating PTSD and other injuries by creating a supportive and healing environment and reconnection and closure with their brothers-in-arms.

  • Funeral Cost Assistance Program – Veteran’s Families can apply for assistance with funeral costs for deceased veterans. An unexpected death can cause many hardships for the veteran’s family. We want to be able to provide the family with needed financial assistance in covering the cost of the funeral or guidance in dealing with the VA process.

  • Race/Sports Sponsorship Program – This ‘recovery through sport’ program applies a holistic approach to help veterans heal by sponsoring veterans to participate in athletic activities. Veterans can apply to have their race entry fees reimbursed.

  • Medical Expenses Assistance Program – Veterans can apply to pay for their medical expenses not covered by the VA. Unexpected medical bills can cause financial hardship and affect veterans’ financial recovery. This can include any medical costs not covered by the VA or due to a lack of insurance.

  • Legal Expenses Assistance Program – Veterans can apply for financial assistance to cover their legal needs. Many veterans can experience legal difficulties during their recovery that can further affect their ability to reintegrate into civilian life. We want to be able to assist veterans with covering their legal expenses so they can continue their recovery.

  • PTSD Service Dog Program – Veterans can apply to be provided with a trained PTSD Service Dog. We currently work with a few organizations that train and provide these certified service dogs to veterans in need, which can assist with a variety of daily tasks.

  • Connection to Veteran Services Networks – Our relationship with many other Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs) allows us to connect veterans to many organizations around the U.S. that can offer additional services that the Veteran might need.
